One of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers who stepped into the limelight Wednesday per her porn star attorney, Michael Avenatti, has a lot of questionable history, including one involving threats of violence, a former boyfriend claimed.
As reported by Politico, accuser Julie Swetnick claims that Kavanaugh and a friend attended house parties in the early 1980s where women, her included, were drugged and then gang-raped, though she isn’t claiming that the Supreme Court nominee ever participated.
But it appears as though Swetnick has some explaining to do herself:
A Miami-Dade County court docket shows a petition for injunction against Swetnick was filed March 1, 2001, by her former boyfriend, Richard Vinneccy, who told POLITICO Wednesday the two had dated for four years before they broke up.
Thirteen days later, the case was dismissed, not long after an affidavit of non-ability to advance fees was filed.
Vinneccy said that Swetnick actually threatened him physically following the break-up and that the threats continued even after he got married and had a child.
“Right after I broke up with her, she was threatening my family, threatening my wife and threatening to do harm to my baby at that time,” Vinneccy told Politico in a telephone interview.
“I know a lot about her,” he continued. “She’s not credible at all. Not at all.”
It figures that her lawyer would be Avenatti, the attention-seeking counsel for porn star Stormy Daniels, who is claiming that she and POTUS Donald Trump had a consensual one-nighter a decade ago (which the president denies).
As for Avenatti, he told Politico that he didn’t know anything about a restraining order, but that it didn’t matter anyway.
“Complete nonsense. No truth to this at all. Her ex-boyfriend fraudulently used her resume to apply for and obtain jobs and was caught by her,” Avenatti said.
“Why are you all attacking a sexual assault victim?” he asked. “Would that be appropriate in a court of law?
For the record, Vinneccy, 63, is a registered Democrat, Miami-Dade voting records show. So, it’s not likely he’s a supporter of POTUS Trump and his constitutionalist SCOTUS nominee. (Related: Men interviewed by Senate Judiciary say they had encounter with Ford, NOT Kavanaugh.)
But that said, what does Avenatti’s denial have to do with anything? ‘Attack a sexual assault victim?’ What would ‘a court of law’ think?
Like other Left-wing hacks, Avenatti is tossing aside the one legal principle that sets Americans apart from authoritarian regimes: The presumption of innocence until proven guilty. We don’t know – and neither does he – whether his client was actually assaulted sexually by anyone, let along Brett Kavanaugh. Further, the purpose of a court of law is to get to the truth of allegations, and if by ‘attacking’ the alleged victim he means questioning her veracity in pursuit of truth, that’s the point of a trial.
For Vinneccy, he was crystal clear. “I have a lot of facts, evidence, that what she’s saying is not true at all,” he told Politico. Avenatti, meanwhile, was outraged that anyone in the media would actually do their job and attempt to substantiate what his client is alleging, or that she wasn’t taken at her word and left alone.
“I am disgusted by the fact that the press is attacking a sexual assault victim,” he declared – again before there has been any proof offered to corroborate Swetnick’s claims.
Meanwhile, additional questions about the veracity of Swetnick’s claims have been raised. For instance, as NewsTarget reported, why did she continue to go to house parties where she allegedly knew that young women were being drugged and raped? Not only that, base on her age at the time, she was considered an adult but was partying with minors.
Avenatti is defending his client – that’s his job. But the reality is this woman and her claims are fair game to be scrutinized and it’s about time someone in the “mainstream” media did so.
